Jute or morapat

Jute is a useful plant from all aspect.From its tender leaf to dried leaf has many medicinal properties,even matured stem is used with firewood,which is called as "shinna".everyone knows about the bag,shoes,jewellary made from jute fibre.
In assamese it is called 'morapat' and 'pata' in bengali.It is slightly bitter in taste.
It has antiworm properties and good for diabetes.Tender leaf of jute can cooked as 'saag'.even when leaf becomes matured it is dried under sunlight and preserved.dried powdered jute leaf can be eaten as chutney with adding salt,onion,chilly,oil etc.
Today I am going to share a simple recipe which children as well as adult would enjoy.

Tender jute leaf fritters

Bunch of fresh tender jute leaf(morapat) alongwith stem wash thoroughly and keep in a strainer.
Prepare batter with gramflour(besan),1teaspoon salt,1/2teaspoon baking soda,1teaspoon onion powder,ginger-garlic powder,pinch of turmeric powder,red chilly powder mix well with some water .
Dip  leaf in the batter .
Heat the oil in a pan on high heat.add leaf one after another and reduce heat.turn immediately.transfer over a kitchen paper for absorving access oil.serve hot.
